Part of the reason that I designed Metadata Interrogator was as software for a Digital Document Forensics course that I currently run with Peter Darby Associates. This course is aimed at teaching those in counter-fraud, security and similar industries how to get the most possible out of the digital files they receive to help reach a decision on the intent of the sender.
It includes training on:
- Gathering metadata from a wide range of files, and what to do with it.
- Methodologies to detect if photos/image/PDF/doc files have been manipulated.
- Hashing and file verification.
- Email analysis.
- Putting together a comprehensive intelligence report.
